The kids did outstanding this weekend. Shooting both the State Junior Olympic Qualifier and the State NRA Sectionals on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, the sporter team finished up in 1st place in the Junior Olympics 3P Qualifier, giving them a berth at the National Civilian Marksmanship Program tournament in Camp Perry Ohio. The Sporter team won out over Gallatin Valley by 14 points with a team score of 2038. The minimum qualifying team score is 2025.

Bailey Milender ended up with the top spot – winning over our own Howie Edison by 4 points. Heath Edison – 6th, Decker Milender, 11th, Payton Milender – 14th.

Jonna Warnken is shooting for the Hellgate Gold Precision team and they also captured a berth to the CMP National 3PAR tournament. Individually, Jonna shot a 574 out of 600 to end with an overall place of 6th.

Sunday was the NRA Sectionals, which is comprised of two events – 3 Position and Standing. The 3P event is 20 shots in each position – Prone, Standing, and Kneeling where the Standing event is 40 shots standing.

We’re still waiting on some of the scores to finish updating, but it looks like the sporter team will quality for the NRA 3P event, held in Bloomington, Illinois on May. They were 2 points under the qualification to make the sporter standing event.

Update:

Howie finished 1st place overall in 3P with Bailey ending up in 4th place. In standing Bailey ended up in 1st place with Howie in 2nd. Heath finished 10th in standing and 9th in 3P. Decker finished 3P in 8th and 12th in standing. Payton finished 14th in Standing and 12th in 3P.

On the Precision side Jonna Warnken qualified for the NRA 3P tournament finishing the sectional in 4th place overall.

We’re headed to the State 4H Tournament this weekend, where we’re hoping to repeat our wins. We would really like to see our kids attend the 4H Nationals in Grand Island, but it will conflict with the CMP National Tournament.

We will be fundraising to offset some of the costs of attending these tournaments. Many are held over several days and none are near us, costing us flights, and room and board. If you would like to help these kids go to these national tournaments, it is a tax deductible donation, please contact Don Warnken or Rich Milender or the county extension office.
